collaborative planning
Attached is a copy of our planning for Puna Ako time that we have been collaboratively planning in a three.
We have different roles during and are using the one teach, two roam approach for this time.
It's really interesting collaborating in a 3, very different to collaborating in a 2. You need to be far more structured in who is doing what, and clear about your roles - whereas in a two (especially a two that work well together) you can sort of work with each other to do it on the spot, and how the mood of the group is.
Some benefits of this approach are:
- You are constantly bouncing off each other, and working with each other for the benefit of students.
- Ideas are much more free flowing for this time, and you can extend each others thinking
Some challenges of this approach are:
- Different strengths of Kaiako need to be taken into account, and planned for
- Need to compromise on HOW things are done, they can't always be done the way you would do them
- Expectations need to be thoroughly planned out, we didn't do this very well at the beginning and needed to come back to this.
- You need to make sure that you can work well with all members of the group, it's important that they are complimentary to each other.
