My Role as a Teacher

In my own classroom (or in a previous learning environment) what did I use to do that I still do:
Give instructions as a whole group and then roam around individual students who need help.
Build relationships with students

What have I had to stop doing:
Using groups based on curriculum - reading, writing, maths groups etc.

What have I had to adapt:

What new practices have I had to start?
Communication with the team, having hui at the start of the day to ensure team is all on the same page.
Timetabling the day, making sure enough teachers are working with students.

What does the phrase collective responsibility mean to me?

Everyone is responsible for what goes on in the hapori, it cannot all fall on one person. Everyone needs to support and tautoko their fellow teachers.

Where do I think my responsibility starts and ends?
My responsibility starts when I know a student, and can do something to help them, and ends when I have exhausted all my avenues of support.
My responsibility is to do all I can to support my fellow teachers in whatever way they need.

What about the responsibilities of our leaders?
Leaders need to scaffold and support teachers, and give people opportunities to be leaders of themselves and their peers.
