Writing MAI time - What went well?

Writing was good because;

  • It was mostly students who really wanted to write. 
  • It had a real purpose (writing stories in order to make a magazine at the end)
  • It had a balance of instructional and independent time (teaching students how to plan a story, looking at their stories to see the improvement that planning made) 
  • It was a really quiet area that students could write in.
  • Students were able to collaborate with each other in order to create stories
  • We had a really clear routine with a sharing circle at the end that people were expected to share in. Expectations were there that I shared for them or they shared. Everyone was comfortable to share SOMETHING, even if it was just a little of their story.
